Young Dolph’s family is coming out one week after he was killed.
They paid tribute to the 36-year-old rapper and father of two in a statement issued Wednesday. He was killed down earlier this month in his hometown of Memphis. The bereaved family thought on the great loss and legacy Dolph leaves behind after reading a poem by author Rudyard Kipling.
“There are no words that adequately reflect the anguish we as a family are experiencing,” they wrote. “Losing Adolph, Dolph, and Man-Man irrevocably alters our life. And, although we will take each day as it comes, we take solace in the fact that he leaves behind a legacy that represents his character. That was a heart for his family. A heart that was devoted to the common good.”
“We are appreciative for the outpouring of kindness,” the message said. We are pleased that his divine mission to extend goodwill to the world is being recognized.”
“As a family, we were fortunate to have him as our son, nephew, brother, cousin, partner, and parent. And now we have the privilege of referring to him as our angel. A position he has consistently filled.”
Dolph’s friends and relatives, including Key Glock and Mia Jaye, the mother of his two children, have sent condolences. Others, such as Monica, Rick Ross, and Gucci Mane, also expressed their condolences through social media.
Dolph was slain on Nov. 17 when assailants opened fire on him at a Memphis bakery. The homicide is under investigation and police have identified the getaway car that was noticed at the crime site.
